About

We are Shine | DCCM

Founded in 1956, Shine | DCCM is a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB)- and Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB)-certified firm specializing in surveying water and land boundaries, including surveys connected with permitting structures across state-owned lands such as river beds and tidally influenced areas. We have performed several hundred miles of gradient boundary on most of Texas’ major rivers and streams and approximately 200 miles of coastal boundaries. Overall, we have surveyed nearly 2 million acres in more than 100 counties throughout Texas.

For the employees of Shine | DCCM, land surveying is about more than simply earning a living. Our founder, Darrell Shine, propagated throughout the state a love for the land, the outdoors, and land surveying as a profession that still resonates today. While the company is in high demand, we have narrowed our focus to select projects in order to maintain a personal perspective. Doing so has enabled the company to allow for one hundred percent availability and complete commitment to each project, from the word “go,” until project completion. Our dedicated staff follows the footsteps of our founder with a mutual love of the profession and the outdoors.

At Shine | DCCM, our culture is our compass, guiding us toward excellence, innovation, and collaboration. We cultivate an environment where every member is valued, every idea is welcomed, and every challenge is seen as an opportunity for growth.

Shine | DCCM specializes in surveying water boundaries, both inland rivers, and tidally influenced water bodies. Shine has surveyed hundreds of miles of river boundaries—from the Red River on the north, to the Sabine on the east, to the Rio Grande on the south. Establishing tidally influenced land boundaries is often a part of permitting processes as Texas seeks ways to prevent our shorelines from eroding. Shine has performed subsidence studies and other tasks associated with these vulnerable areas.

Shine | DCCM is often hired by other survey companies or attorneys when boundary issues arise that require a more thorough analysis of ancient to current records. We have experience in diverse areas such as oil field operations, wind farms, highway projects, and municipal boundaries. We have performed American Land Title Association/National Society of Professional Surveyors (ALTA/NSPS) surveys on large acreage tracts with more than 50 easements and rights-of-ways (ROWs) affecting the subject property. These have been completed in a timely, professional fashion.
